The Meaning Behind the Semicolon

At ST;LL Clothing, one small symbol means everything: the semicolon ( ; ).

For most people, it’s just a piece of punctuation. But for many, it represents something far deeper, a message of survival, resilience, and choosing to keep going.

🖤 Why the Semicolon?

In writing, a semicolon is used when an author could have ended a sentence, but instead, they chose to continue it.

That’s why the semicolon has become a symbol of mental health awareness and suicide prevention. It represents moments in life where things could have ended, but didn’t. Where someone made the choice, however difficult, to carry on their story.

🖤 Why It’s Part of ST;LL

I chose the semicolon for ST;LL Clothing because it’s subtle, but it carries a huge meaning.

I didn’t want mental health awareness to just be a slogan or a one-time campaign. I wanted it built into the very fabric of the brand, so that anyone wearing our clothing carries that quiet reminder of resilience with them.

It’s not about shouting it loudly; it’s about creating space for people to recognise strength in themselves and others.

🖤 A Message That Lasts

ST;LL is more than clothing, it’s about community, awareness, and connection. The semicolon is our way of saying:

  • Your story isn’t over.

  • You’re not alone.

  • Every day you keep going is a victory.

Still Here. Still Going.
